I didn't start writing because I loved writing.
I started because I was tired of carrying everything in my head.
I kept looking for answers everywhere else. Books. Podcasts. Advice from people who seemed to have everything figured out.
The strange thing was that the more information I consumed, the less I trusted myself.
Writing didn't give me all the answers.
It simply gave my own thoughts somewhere to exist besides my head.
Your thoughts don't disappear because you ignore them.
For a long time, I thought I could outthink everything.
If I stayed busy enough, maybe the anxious thoughts would disappear.
They didn't.
They just kept showing up in different ways.
Our minds aren't meant to remember every thought, every feeling and every small realization.
When I started writing them down, I began noticing things I had been missing.
The patterns.
The habits.
The reasons behind some of my decisions.
And when things started making more sense, it became easier to trust myself.
Maybe nothing changes overnight.
But it's hard for anything to change if you've never taken the time to notice what's already happening.
You don't have to build your life the way someone else did.
Social media is full of people telling you what worked for them.
Wake up earlier.
Meditate.
Buy the course.
Follow the routine.
Some of those things might help.
Some of them might not.
The important part is knowing the difference.
No one can decide that for you.
I don't think another person can tell you how to live your life.
But I do think having a place for your own thoughts can change the way you understand it.
That's why I chose this journal.
If you'd like to make it part of a small everyday ritual, you can also build your own box with a journal, candle and jewelry.
Whatever you choose, make sure it's something that actually fits your life. Not someone else's.
